Brazilian Rose Wood
(Jacaranda mimosifolia)

Synonyms: Blue Jacaranda, Green Ebony, J. ovalifolia, J. chelonia
Native range: Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia
Growing conditions: Bright, warm and humid conditions, with well-drained soil.
Maximum height: 16 feet +

A tropical South American tree with fern-like leaves and lavender/blue flowers. Whilst this species prefers warm, humid conditions, it is also somewhat drought tolerant.

There is some reference of toxicity with this plant, however this appears to be a confusion with Dalbergia nigra, also named 'Brazilian Rose Wood'. Jacaranda mimosifolia is considered non-toxic according to PIER risk assessment (available here) and 'The Poisoned Weed: Plants toxic to skin' (available here). However, please research this plant yourself before using in a vivarium.
